The Puccini Festival ends with #TorredelLagoGrandeAmore

The evening arrived again on the placid lake, in Viareggio. Torre del Lago was lighted up for welcoming the last concert of the Puccini Festival, the concert which was also the second sold out of Il Volo in that place. The people who came there couldn’t avoid to notice the general atmosphere that ran into every person, who had dinner or waited to sit in his place. Everyone was thrilled, happy; they laughed while the final rehearsals lulled them. The chords of Grande Amore echoed in the air, and soon the audience was invited to sit.

The intro of Grande Amore opened the night, like a pleasant habitude beginning in Locarno. Soon after, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca walked the stage to start their last date in Tuscany: they would love to introduce the concert in a serious way, but Il Volo is young and all of them have a very strong personality. Because of that, while Piero was talking, Ignazio interrupted him to say: «I would like to apologize with you all, because I forgot my belt another time. So I will pull my trousers up all the time». He referred to the date in Chieti – when Gianluca told Ignazio off because he has fought for three hours with his suit.

Il Volo - Museo Puccini

Il Volo e Simonetta Puccini

Even if the impact with Puccini’s aura has happened the day before, on August 12th, it could be easily seen the emotion on the faces of the trio; most of all on Piero’s, who would have again the honour and duty to sing the aria E Lucevan le Stelle from Tosca. Besides, Il Volo’s two concerts were part of the Puccini Festival, and every part of nature and every corner scream his name. On August 13th, in the morning, Il Volo has visited Puccini Home Museum and has met his granddaughter, who guided them into the rooms.
Therefore, anxiety was palpable when the moment of E Lucevan le Stelle came. However, at the end of the aria Piero dissolved all his tension with a smile and was moved by the long standing ovation. The audience stood up to clap Gianluca’s solo Can’t help falling in love and Ignazio’s Memory too, and even after the famous duets. The duets are the newness of this tour, they are different but unique in their own kind, and they were born by the brilliant idea of melting two voices together to make the songs richer.
My Way, Unchained Melody, Core ‘ngrato… this idea was really appreciated by the fans in all over the world.

Continue reading

#CerviaGrandeAmore – Review: Cervia and Il Volo’s kiss / July 18th, 2015

by Sara Severi

Il Volo a CerviaA sky with few stars because the brighter are on the stage. Cervia has been kissed by Il Volo and after this concert, will never be the same. And I would say that no one, after listening to these voices, will be the same. That kind of experience changes you. It’s too intense, it’s one in a million. There are so many feelings that I would describe to try to come back in that square and bring you with me.

The people of Piazza Garibaldi have embraced Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca with open arms. A big hug. The Grande Amore’s prelude is majestic, but the minutes are endless, seem like hours, in the square no one can wait any longer. And finally the guys, one after the other, go on stage, they are beautiful, shining, excited, as always generous with their audience, they almost take a run-up to reach them, they are ready to give emotions. And all those people are there for them. There is a constant exchange of love and this feeling continues to grow from the first note to the last one of this wonderful evening.

The concert is sold out, in the square but also outside. There are many people who couldn’t catch a ticket, but the voices of Il Volo manage to reach them anyway and warm their hearts.

I loved that they opened the concert with Il Mondo, I found it a right choice, to remind that they started from there, that they aren’t only “those of Grande Amore“, there is much more behind them, a great path. In the setlist then, a wonderful journey between the past and present of their songs and I buckle my seat belt.

I let myself be overwhelmed by Io che non vivo, Canzone per te, Un amore così grande, I keep my eyes wide open, I won’t miss anything about them. You realize the beauty in front of you, you want to take care of it, it’s something extremely precious, to protect.

Solos highlight the vocal uniquiness of the guys and their incredible mastery of the voice, they are extraordinary, it’s natural that together give life to something outstanding, unrepeatable, what we love so much: Il Volo.

Il Volo a CerviaIn E lucevan le stelle, Piero’s voice soars above us and at the same time makes you fall into the deeper despair. He takes you in his arms and doesn’t want to let you go. When the song ends, I too think that I have never loved life so much.

The next song comforts me, the emotions for the Piero’s solo are still so alive, we’re really impressed. So let us get carried away by Granada. Continue reading

Il Volo in Rome, June 24th, 2015. Review. Could we combine romanticism and humor? We can indeed, thanks to Il Volo!

The concert of June 24th, 2015 in Rome was characterized by a particular atmosphere: that day was Piero’s birthday, too.
Il Volo cakeThe audience was ready to greet him from the very beginning; that’s why Ignazio stopped a rising “happy birthday to you” song that came from the people in the Auditorium – Il Volo was about to celebrate the birthday later in the evening. And so it was: after performing a few songs, Ignazio and Gianluca came to the stage holding a big cake with strawberries and cream. Even that moment was an opportunity to start jokes and gags: Gianluca put a strawberry in Ignazio’s mouth (he was holding the cake) and soiled his moustaches with cream; soon after Ignazio cleaned the cream from his moustaches and tidied his dirty hands on Gianluca’s suit jacket. Gianluca then cleaned his jacket on Piero’s suit jacket, causing Piero’s complaining. That was a little act-drop that proved once again the love that ties these guys that grew up together as real friends and real artists.

b8In some moments, Il Volo moved the audience thanks to the passion and feelings they felt while performing the songs: Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca really put their hearts in the music and transmit to the audience every sensation they feel while singing.During the evening the guys joked a lot with the audience and with each other as well, by doing sketches and gags at the end of the songs or even while they were singing.
For example, Ignazio introduced Unchained Melody by using both romanticism and humor: watch our video, surely it worth it! And while Gianluca and Ignazio were magnificently singing the song, Nature chose to help them and increase the emotion: a flock of seagulls spread the white wings and flew right behind the stage, in the night, making the audience clap for a long time.

The real innovation of this tour were the duets between the guys, because they let the people appreciate a new dimension of their magnificent voices.
When they sang all together and two of them were waited their turn to sing, they greeted fans that came near the stage to get a handshake, a hug, an autograph or to took a selfie. It was amusing seeing how Il Volo was at ease in greeting the fans while singing: Piero did a high five with a kid, Gianluca kneeled down to take the hands of some girls, Ignazio found himself in the middle of a particular scene. A fan came near the stage with a pen and ask Ignazio to autograph a piece of paper – her pen stopped writing and Ignazio threw it down and said her to wait; then he went near the piano to search one (usually they have pens on the piano) but he wasn’t able to find it anywhere. So he asked to the orchestra and one of the musicians gave him a pen: finally he ran to the girl and signed the paper, just in time to took the microphone and started to sing his part!

d9Touching moments were the tribute to Pino Daniele made by Ignazio, that performed a medley of some of his beautiful songs, as well as the one to Frank Sinatra, with the famous My Way. However, on the other hand, there were also moments of pure amusement; like the one in which Il Volo did a very unexpected performance – they are a group that devotes itself to the operatic pop, but the trio performed a piece of a rap song by Clementino with beatbox provided by Ignazio!
Also the solo performances were moments full of emotions. Even if I have had the chance to listen other times their solos in the CDs; their voices are completely different when the guys sings live: they are powerful and clear and sing the songs with an intensity that I can’t remember having heard before. E lucevan le stelle, Anema e core, Memory: there were many standing ovations, but it was to be expected!
Surrender was the last song and gave them the chance for tease jokingly each other.

The evening ended with Grande Amore, and it can be really said that has been love, a very big one.
Thanks, Il Volo, for this wonderful concert!

Il Volo a Roma, 24 giugno 2015. Recensione.

Rome, June 23, 2015.
In the Auditorium Parco della Musica the people are quivering expecting the second of the three sold-out concerts of Il Volo in Rome – with these concerts officially start the first entirely Italian tour of the group. Also they are finally appointed as national stars. The number of tickets sold and the positive opinions of the people who attended to the concert speaks volumes: Il Volo “sings and charms”, on the magnificent outdoor stage in a Roman evening.
The Veneto’s Regional Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the Maestro Diego Basso, who worked with Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca on the occasion of the Christmas Concert at the Italian Senate on December 2014, wishing to have the chance to work with them again.

c11The evening began with a classic: Il Mondo, in memory of Jimmy Fontana, sing that Il Volo performs since the earliest days getting better in every occasion and maturing along with the song itself, that gains a different awareness in conjunction with the age of the singers.
Following, the song Io che non Vivo and the cover of the song by Sergio Endrigo Canzone Per Te, protagonist of the second video of Il Volo. After the solos by Piero (E Lucevan le Stelle, romanza drawn from the Tosca and not easy at all, but that Piero managed to intepret skilfully) and Gianluca (Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley – with whom he shares the quiff), came the moment for Ignazio to sing a medley in memory of the last Pino Daniele. Ignazio Boschetto – 20 years (almost 21!) – played for a few minutes the piano (then the Maestro Giampiero Grani replace him), performing the medley with an enormous respect and sweetness. That song got cherished applauses and a few tears of emotion. Continue reading
