:: Da Il Volo – Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Italia: #eurovision #boicottiamothevoice. Questa sera c’è la prima semifinale dell’Eurovision 2015. Ma la Rai ha combinato una confusione pazzesca per cui:

– la finale della Coppa Italia di calcio (non per colpa loro) è stata spostata al 20 Maggio;
– The Voice of Italy, su Rai2, è stato spostato a oggi;

– Prima Semifinale #Eurovision 2015: stasera dalle 21 #BoicottiamoTheVoice (Eurofestival News)

:: From Il Volo – Eurovision Song Contest 2015 Italia: #eurovision #boicottiamothevoice. Tonight Eurovision Song Contest’s 1st semifinal will take place. However, RAI did a big chaos, so:

– Italian Cup final (football – not by their fault) has been moved to May 20th;
– The Voice of Italy, on Rai2, was moved to today;
– Eurovision first semifinal, originally live on Rai4, was delayed to tomorrow at 22:50 (Italy) due to hard to understand choices.

While live coverage will be provided by Eurovision YouTube channel (and by San Marino RTV), Eurofestival News launched a kind of petition in order to show how RAI was wrong to behave this way. Basically, it’s about following the first semifinal and tweeting the two hashtags #eurovision #boicottiamothevoice. It’s mainly for Italy. – Prima Semifinale #Eurovision 2015: stasera dalle 21 #BoicottiamoTheVoice (Eurofestival News)

Il Volo interview to Corriere TV

On Feb 9, 2015 Corriere della Sera (Corriere TV) published an interview with Il Volo taken by Andrea Laffranchi.

edited by AAIV

Original video: Il Volo: «Non siamo tre tenori, facciamo pop»

Translation by Martina Maggi

Andrea Laffranchi, journalist of il CorriereTV: «Il Volo had success abroad, was nominated for the Grammys, won the Billboard Latin Award in 2014… and now here comes the time to seduces Italy – with Sanremo Festival.
Piero: «Finally we are in Italy. Italy is always in our hearts – we have many things to show to Italians. Above all our aim is to share our music with Italians because somebody still don’t know us. That’s why we will do all our best for Sanremo»

A.L.: «Introduce yourselves. Introduce your group – what is Il Volo, musically speaking? In these years there were many misunderstandings: you were called “the three tenors”, but you aren’t three tenors…»
Ignazio: «We’re two tenors and a baritone»

A.L. «Stop calling them “the three tenors”»
Ignazio: «Yes. Well, we are Il Volo and Il Volo is a group of three guys that try to proponere…no, gosh, sorry… to suggest [Gianluca: is “to suggest”] yeah, sorry. I know… I was only thinking of… [Gianluca: yes because en español es proponer – in Spanish ‘to suggest’ is ‘proponer’, while in Italian is ‘proporre’, nd.T.] yeah, I was thinking in Spanish, I’m sorry. [Gianluca: eh, Ignazio habla español – eh, Ignazio speaks Spanish!] oh, come on! Yes. We are a group that tries to suggest to young people a new musical genre. Our music is not classical and is not pop – is a mixture. We think that is a perfect mix because it can put together old people and young people at the same time»

A.L.: «And so – you are three. You can vote for three different singers, but obviously, you can’t vote for yourselves. Who you’re going to vote?»
Ignazio laughs and gives the microphone to Piero, who laughs too. Therefore, Gianluca starts to speak but Piero interrupts him. Piero: «Do you know who I’m going to vote? Carlo Conti»
A.L: (laughing) «Oh, no, that’s not fair!»
Gianluca: «No, it’s not correct. Therefore, we are very close to Lorenzo Fragola. Ignazio is close to Alessio, too. One of the members of the Dear Jack»
Ignazio: «Yes, I’m going to vote for the Dear Jack»
Piero: «I will vote for Irene Grandi»
Gianluca: «I’ll vote for Lorenzo»

A.L: «Piero, I know why you want to vote for Irene Grandi. You know, you’ve done something that needs to be forgiven…»
Piero blushes and takes the microphone: «Yes, she has to forgive me. We live in hotel and my room is on the fifth floor, while hers is on the fourth floor. Well, I love to sing while I’m taking a shower – I sing opera, you know, opera is my world. Yesterday evening we were at dinner, she came to me and said ‘who stays in the room at the fifth floor?’, and I answered. She then begged ‘please, don’t sing anymore! The chandelier moves every time!’ I said that I’ll make it up to her»

A.L: «Introduce your song, even if you can’t sing it»
Ignazio: «Our song is called “Grande Amore” and it properly speaks of love. St. Valentine’s Day is near; obviously, our song is about love. So… our song is about a young love, about the love that young people feel. The lyrics are simple, easy to understand. It’s a song for everyone»
Piero: «Our song speaks of a comprehensive love. As the Pope said, in this period we have to transmit all the love we can. The world needs love and peace, so we try in our small way to transmit these ideals»

A.L.: «One last question: according to the bookmakers Il Volo is one of the favorites for the victory. How do you feel? Do you feel something like a burden on you? Do you feel more responsibilities than before?»
Gianluca: «Well, we are pleased for sure. We love the idea that people trust in us, but… how can I express that? We came here with all the humility and joy. This is the first thing. Just being here, at Sanremo Festival, is a wonderful experience. We want to live all the moments and we’re really looking forward to perform on that stage»
Ignazio: «Therefore, apart from the final result we want to enjoy our experience and sing. We want to compete against the others in a very healthy and honest way and just sing, because we love music. We love making music – nobody is forcing us»
Piero: «You know what is strange? A few years ago, I was with one of my friends and I played the pools. I betted on Milan. Now people bet on me, on us. It’s freaking cool»
Ignazio laughs.

A.L.: «Did Milan win?»
Piero: «No, Milan lost the match»
Gianluca: «Of course it lost the match. You betted on Milan, no?»
Piero: «Please, don’t talk about that. Don’t hit a nerve»
Gianluca: «All right, I will not do that. I support Roma, so…»
Ignazio: «I’d better not talk, otherwise…»

A.L.: «Which team do you support?»
Ignazio: «I support Juventus. And, Piero, 3 – 1 palla al centro (back to the square one, nd.T.), so shhhhh, you can’t go ahead anymore» [Ignazio refers to the match between Milan and Juventus that took place on Saturday the 7th. Milan lost the match.]
Gianluca: «Yeah, we know that»

The 20 big songs – a review by Mario Luzzatto Fegiz

Il Volo - Sanremo Grande Amoreleggere in italiano

About to be published on Corriere della Sera – “Accordi e disaccordi” -, the evaluation of the 20 “big”songs in competition in Sanremo 2015 by the musical critic Mario Luzzatto Fegiz. The review is already under construction but it is a sensible and thoughtful review.

The most appreciated songs are: Marco Masini “Che giorno è”, Irene Grandi “Un vento senza nome”, Francesco Mandelli e Fabrizio Biggio “Vita d’inferno”, Grazia di Michele-Mauro Coruzzi (Platinette) “Io sono una finestra”, Chiara “Straordinario”. All with grades above 8.

He do not give a grade to Grande Amore, but said:

“Il Volo ‘Grande amore’ A romance between opera and musicals brazenly suggestive with a sweet and catchy chorus. Irresistible.”

The complete review will appear on the paper newspaper.

Preview of the 20 unreleased songs for Sanremo 2015

or what the press said about…

Sanremo songs previewYesterday took place a preview for the 20 unreleased songs that will be presented on the 65º Festival della Canzone Italiana by the 20 big artists, among them Il Volo. The event was held with the presence of Carlo Conti, the artistic director of Sanremo 2015, critics, journalists and people related to the musical scene.

Several media published their ‘first’ impressions in general and in particular about the songs presented. All About Il Volo was publishing the sources and summaries on our Links and News but we decided to do a special article about the theme, waiting for more reviews and testimonials.

Almost all are very pessimist about the possibilities of the new songs. Some pointed that they are more of the same, Sanremo default products. Boring love songs said some media. They stated a lack of originality and real novelty on almost all the songs presented. But some welcomed the song of Mauro Coruzzi (Platinette) and Grazia Di Michelle as a good surprise, something out of sameness including the theme.

About Il Volo the reviews are almost the opposite, with some sources praising the great, magnificent song and another mocking the super mellow bordering on kitsch song.  The reviews are not good or bad at all (more bad than good, let’s say), a little blasé, we can point, although some media published that Il Volo are the probable winner (sometimes in an ironic mod).

As we already said here: all criticism are welcomed, because they will be the scenario where Il Volo will shine more than ever. An opinion is not an offense, instead it was a opportunity to dialogue, to discuss ideas, to know more and to learn more.

The reviews:

. Sanremo 2015: pagelle e voti alle canzoni dei Big Annalisa, Chiara, Dear Jack, Fragola, Moreno, Il Volo, pre-ascolto – by Fabio Traversa on Reality Show (Blogo) – The article brought a summary of several reviews.
About Il Volo:
– Paolo Biamonte-Ansa: In Italy Il Volo has not found the same success that their tour in the world achieved. Grande amore is a pop ‘romance song’ with pressing strings and piping hot uvula not afraid to cross over into kitsch. Rated 5 – A Sanremo vincono amore e tradizione, il giudizio al primo ascolto.
– Andrea Laffranchi-Corriere della Sera: The three guys of Il Volo exaggerate with epic melodrama. – Gino Castaldo-Repubblica: The performance of Il Volo, Grande amore, Rate 2, seems a caricature of a South American soap. – Sanremo, al festival dei tormenti d’amore il podio lo meritano tre donne.
– Marinella Venegoni-La Stampa: Il Volo, the triumph of the long loaf of Bocelli. Melodrama for yankees, a crossing of voices, boldness and kitsch.
– Marco Molendini-Il Messaggero: Il Volo starts with a flavor ‘battistiano’ “I close my eyes and think of her” (but not enough). (reference to Lucio Battisti)
– Paolo Giordano-Il Giornale: A rejoice (triumphant elation?) almost baroque of the Il Volo voices.
– Leonardo Iannacci-Libero: Il Volo, they return to make the “tre tenorini”.
– Stefano Mannucci- Il Tempo: Terrible pastiche ‘brother-tenors’ of Il Volo.
– Marco Mangiarotti-Qn: Il Volo, lyrical explosion but it is Naples in romance shape. The three boys try the long shot. Favorites? vote 6+ – Cantaci d’amore Sanremo. Ecco i brani dei big in gara.
– Federico Vacalebre-Il Mattino: Il Volo: the three tenorini mix neobelcanto and parodies of opera-rock of Queen.
– Renato Tortarolo-Il Secolo XIX: Il Volo: on romances the middle ground are dangerous. The ‘tenorini’ will also be famous but had to be less pop and more classic. A little courage. Insufficient.
– Silvia Truzzi-Il Fatto Quotidiano: Dear Jack, everything is very appealing and nothing out of place, will be liked. As well as Chiara and Il Volo (although the song is of a astonishing banality).  Continue reading
