The concert was absolutely wonderful! The sound was perfect, the music was perfect, and Il Volo was, of course, perfect! At one point they jumped down from the stage, which was no easy endeavor as there were no stairs for them, to sing to a handicapped young lady who was in a wheel chair. She was simply radiant with their attention! There were parts in which they were being funny and joking with each other and joking with people in the audience. A group of ladies (known as The Granny Groupies) had brought paddles with individual pictures on them of Piero, Gianluca, and Ignazio. On one side was a picture when each was a very little boy and on the other side was a picture when each was perhaps 10 years old. They had fun with those paddles on stage, too! The interaction with the crowd was wonderful. There was absolutely nothing to disappoint in this concert. Ignazio playing the part of The Godfather, with round objects stuffed into each side of his face was hilarious!

What was not so perfect was the Meet and Greet. I am not certain who is to blame for that, in retrospect. Perhaps a lack of information to those of us who have not attended anything of that nature was part of the problem. The concert was two hours long. After the concert those of us who were to attend the Meet and Greet were led up to the top floor and seated in rows of seats to await Il Volo for our photographs to be taken with them. There were many attending this. The first problem was that there were no restrooms on that floor and we would have had to go down to the main floor lobby for that purpose. What we did not know or understand was whether there was, or was not, any interaction with Il Volo after the photographs were taken. People were leaving after they had their photographs taken, so we thought it was all over. We went down to the lobby to use the restrooms and then left the venue. In retrospect, I imagine there was more to the Meet and Greet but no one told us this. We were very disappointed that it appeared we could not talk to nor ask questions of Piero, Ignazio, or Gianluca, especially with the high cost of the meeting. If we had known there was an opportunity to actually interact with them, we would have returned to the top floor. So disappointed! If you are going to their concert, be certain to ask questions about it!

I did have the opportunity to ask Piero a question as we were posing for our photograph. I asked him what part of his life, before he became famous, did he miss the most. He first said “nothing”, but then corrected himself and said “family”. His father is traveling with them. I am certain they all must miss their families on such long, extensive tours such as this one.

And yes, we would definitely go see and hear them again!

  1. I am in total agreement with Nola. My mom and I drove over eight hours to see the concert, which was beyond belief. They were so wonderful. However, we also thought that the photo session was all we got. I am very upset that we didn’t get a chance to actually talk to them. We were herded like cattle through the photo session and we left the venue. I was so looking forward to talking to them, but no one told us to hang around. SO SAD. I will see them again I hope and will pay for the meet again if able.

  2. I’m highly pissed that no one informed us. Like they said if pay that much for this meet and great I would hope there is more to it.hello we better get a lot out of it. I had a feeling there had to be more I knew it but I just never asked because I so excided to photograph with them. The people working there need to freeking need to do there dam job right.
