ph. All About Il Volo

This summer is about to be very important for Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca, because they will do an entirely Italian tour, after all the success they had abroad. Originally, they had to do 6 dates, that increased and became more than 24 – and maybe they will continue to grow!
With all the dates and the activities of Il Volo, is easy to lost their tracks: in this post we collected all their steps to help you to remember this amazing tour and amazing Summer, in which everybody will scream “GRANDE AMORE!!!!”

Have a look on the special albums on All About Il Volo’s Facebook Page:

The Tour started with a particular date, in Pompeii, on June 10th. Il Volo went there to record live from the ancient ruins a special concert for Detroit Public Television, like the ones they did before (Il Volo… takes flight, Il Volo We Are Love and Il Volo Buon Natale). The playlist was different from the one sang in the following concerts and the expectation was high, although extremely pleased. They directed the songs to the American audience and started the evening exclaiming: “Welcome to Italy!” The PBS was broadcasted in Detroit on July 6th and will be aired all over America in August. Soon even the rest of the world could buy the DVD and let Il Volo enchanted the families.

On June 11th was broadcasted on RAI1 the pre-recorded concert “Esserci Sempre, concerto della Polizia di Stato”, in which Il Volo sang along with Lorenzo Fragola and other artists. The evening was hosted by Alessandro Greco.

Il Volo then performed in Locarno, live from the Piazza Grande, on June 12th. Even if Locarno is in Switzerland, with this date the Italian tour of Il Volo began. Not even the rain stopped the audience from attending the concert and joking around with Il Volo, that performed on the stage in a very emotional state: in Locarno they first met their Italian audience and all the feelings could be seen in the few videos that popped on Internet after that night. That was the concert in which Ignazio performed Unchained Melody alone.

Il Volo never rested and the following day (June 13th) took part in the fundraising event in Assisi, Con il cuore, nel nome di Francesco. The evening was hosted by Carlo Conti and they sang “Grande Amore” and “L’Immensità”, along with all the fans. To all the artists was given a special scarf, decorated with a painting of Assisi’s church. As Piero said, «this is a magnificent present for Il Volo, that suffers because of the air conditioning».

Soon after, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca went to Bracciano (June 16th) to do a photoshoot and recording “something special”: maybe a new video? We really hope so…
In our link&news we wrote «According to many newspapers, they filmed in the historical centre of the town some scenes of a video. One of them was riding a Vespa, an Italian motorbike that many of you probably remeber because of the film “Roman Holiday” with Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck! What if the video would be, indeed, the one of “Vacanze Romane”? Wouldn’t it be wonderful?» [from Il Volo link&news for June 18, 2015, © All About Il Volo.]

Everything was ready for the following step in Roccaraso, near to Gianluca’s home. Il Volo went there on June 16, in the evening, and met a kid, Iaia, who is very ill. They had dinner with her and her family and got busy to help her by dedicating to Iaia the concert.
«But the most wonderful present was Iaia’s smile»
With the date “zero” in Roccaraso, on June 18, the Italian tour officially began.
In our links&news, we wrote «Roccaraso greeted Il Volo in the best way possible: fans brought some presents to them. They gave to Gianluca a red and yellow swim cap (these are the colours of the football team Roma), to Ignazio a black and white swim cap (because of the football team Juventus) and to Piero bow tie, red like his glasses.
The guys were very impressed and pleased and said that they would love to come back to Roccaraso next winter to ski. The Mayor of the town, Francesco Di Donato, is a good skier and Ignazio asked him to teach them ski. That would be lovely to see. Di Donato also said that he and the whole town were very impressed by the “wonderful simplicity” of the guys that conquered all the hearts» [from Il Volo link&news for June 18, 2015, © All About Il Volo.]

On the following day, June 19, every family was ready to watch the special episode of Porta a Porta, recorded in New York City in April.
It was a great night full of emotions, that allowed everyone to know Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca better; but also to focus on the Italian talent that searches for the success abroad. Among the others, they met Woody Allen, Lidia Bastianich, the Firemen of New York who helped the whole city after the attack to the Twin Towers, the photographer Fabrizio Ferri, the restaurant owner Sirio Maccioni.
Bruno Vespa, the host of the entire episode, showed his young personality and the bond that ties him to Il Volo, that calls him “uncle Bruno”. As Ignazio remembered during the Congresso Assoenologi, one of the best moments was seeing Bruno Vespa while doing jogging in Central Park.

On June 20, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca went to Milan and attended Armani’s fashion show – they looked very charming in their suits. Italian beauties…

Then came the time for Rome. Il Volo spent three days in the Capital and did concerts on June 22nd, 23rd and 24th. All About Il Volo was there and was really an emotion. Also, the site attended the concert of 23 as press and so we were able to took photos and write reviews in a more complete way. We deeply thank Il Volo’s staff for that.
During the last concert in Rome, Ignazio and Gianluca were busy preparing Piero a surprise for his birthday, and brought a strawberry and cream cake on the stage, that was the chance to dirty each other’s jacket and beards. This is why people love them.
In the same day they appeared in the program Estate in Diretta, thanks to the reporter Barbara Di Palma that interviewed them in Rome.
The evening had another surprise in store, that time for all the members of Il Volo: the actor Neri Marcorè came to see the concert along with his daughter and after congratulated with them.

And the albums on Facebook:

After the concerts in Rome, Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca took some time to rest and stay with their families.
Piero went to Naro, where he sunbathed (to be precise, burnt) on the beach with his friend Gaetano Monachello [read the wonderful interview by AgrigentoNotizie, in Italian] and celebrated his birthday again with all the relatives. Ignazio went to Marsala and spent time with his sister, played football and volleyball; Gianluca went to the beach with his long-date friends and his brother.
On June 28 they were hosted by Radio2 Social Club and performed live Canzone per te. They were interviewed in a fresh and informal way and revealed even something that usually don’t say. For example, Piero told that the first night he spent in Naro he wasn’t able to sleep because he greeted all his relatives and drank too much coffee; Ignazio confessed that he steals the scuffs from the hotels even if he has two “lifeboats” instead of two feet. He has an 11, in Italy 46.

To know more:

Gianluca shaved his beard after a year without doing it completely… and the following day the management call him to confirm the second part of the photoshoot (the first was on June 16). That’s why he had to go to Rome early on July 3rd and was later joined by Ignazio and Piero.
Gianluca filmed a hilarious Periscope in which he explained that he shaved his beard and so the make-up artists had to create him a new beard made by yak’s hair – in his defence, he said that the photoshoot was confirmed late. The fans enjoyed the Periscope and joked with Gianluca, calling him “Wolverine”, “Abramo Lincoln”, “Jumanjii” and “Young Santa”, because of the fake beard. The same evening they took a train and arrived in Naples.

When in Naples, they set up for the concert (July 4) and met I Malincomici, their impersonators of the Italian TV program “Made In Sud”. They did an amusing Periscope and attended together and event organized by UNICEF; I Malincomici were also guest stars in Il Volo’s concert.

As Il Volo is always on the planes, they left for Detroit on July 5th and arrived in the city the following day (July 6). Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca went there to promote the PBS special filmed in Pompeii and in only a day they did two interviews for radio stations and in the evening were special guest of the Detroit Public Television for the premiere.
During the interview, Ignazio’s chair broke and he had to sit for a while on his fellows’ knees. They are funny even when they try to be serious, we are really starting to think that this is a gift, too.

To know more:

After being in Detroit, they landed in Rome on July 8 and left for Trieste. All About Il Volo was there once again and once again was able to meet them – thanks a lot, guys. The concert on July 11 started at 9.40 p.m. and they did an outstanding performance in Piazza Unità d’Italia, with the magnificent building of the Town Hall lightened by the stage lights.

To know more:

On July 13th, they performed in Brescia. Unfortunately, All About Il Volo was not able to be there, but thanks to the collaboration of all the ilvolovers we succeed in doing a review – we hope it is complete. Thanks to the video on internet, we also know that was a night full of emotions and humour: there was a gag about the heat in Brescia… Piero announced that he would have loved to sing naked. Also Il Volo joked around Ignazio’s way of talking:
Piero (to Ignazio): «I wonder why you speak in that way»
Ignazio: «I speak in the way I eat!!»
Gianluca and Ignazio did also a funny speech while introducing Unchained Melody, about Gianluca’s decision of putting the invisible socks instead of the “transalpine socks” (Ignazio said) that are showed when a person is sit. They moved from Ghost and the vessels of clay to high-ankles. What could we say? Every comment would be excessive… let’s only laugh with them for their great and overwhelming spontaneity.

To know more:

In the following days they came back to Bologna to finish recording their new album, and worked very hardly; then on Wednesday morning (July 15th) – while in Bologna – they attended a press conference live via Skype with the CRIMI association in Malta, for the sale of the tickets for the two concert in August 29th and 30th. On July 17th, the day of the concert in Marostica, were announced two big news, one about the new Italian tour in January 2016, one relating to Milan and the magazine Vanity Fair.

To know more:

Another (sold-out) concert, another amount of emotions. Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca arrived in Marostica on July 17th and performed Piazza degli Scacchi. All About Il Volo was there, obviously. So here they are a playlist of videos, a gallery and a special review for you.
At the concert there was also Carolyn Smith, famous Britain dancer, coreographer and artist that is a judge in the Italian version of “Dancing With the Stars”. She met Il Volo in 2014, when they were guests in the program and was conquered by them – she went in Marostica and did many videos on Periscope. Thanks to her, ilvolovers everywhere in the world could know that Gianluca changed his second solo, choosing to sing  En Aranjuez Con Tu Amor instead of Anema e Core. The audience, and also Carolyn, was really impressed.

To know more:

On the day after, July 18th, Il Volo went to Cervia. In that town there were many members of our staff and of Il Volo Bologna Fan Club. We are glad to say that we are really like a big family and we love to share all the emotions that Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are able to transmit.
In the audience there was also Mr. Giuseppe Rallo, Ignazio’s uncle.
There was a fairy-tale atmosphere and the people that were there came home with their heart full of love and tender feelings: once again, this is the power of Il Volo and of their long, romantic, “kiss”.

On July 19th, the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino said that almost 4,000 persons came to listen to Il Volo in Piazza Garibaldi, between chorus and many standing ovations. A great show, that Cervia won’t forget easily.
