Il Volo in 2011!

On the beginning of 2011 it was released a videoclip of the song “O’ Sole Mio”, an immediate success that prepared the launch of the single on February 28, 2011 and the arrival of Il Volo on the United States.

In May, 2011 the international edition of their Album was released and promoted on the US and they made an amazing performance on American Idol. Soon after, on May 28 they are already back to Italy, participating on an event of the Associazione Ansabbio – “Doctor Smile”, in benefit of the young patients of the Rizzoli Institute and on the next day they received at the Wind Music Awards 2011 the Disco d’Oro award on a special event recorded on the Arena di Verona.

In June it was released the Spanish version of their first Album. On July 21th they performed for the first time on the Univision network, the leading Spanish language broadcasting company in the United States, participating of the 8° Show Anual Prêmios Juventude ou Premios Juventud singing their hit ‘O’ Sole Mio’ and ‘Hasta el final’. On July 25 they went to Singapore to perform and receive an award by the sales of their Album and on July 31 they performed on the President’s Star Charity Show.

On September 4th, 2011 Il Volo was among artists like Celine Dion, Lady Antebellum, Martina McBride and many others that performed on the MDA Labor Day Telethon in Las Vegas. On September 6th they participated of the UNICEF Gala Dinner and of the 68th Venice International Film Festival in Italy. On September 11 they made an appearance on the last episode of the series Entourage on HBO singing ‘Un amore cosi grande’.

In the same year Il Volo was nominated for two Latin Grammy on the categories: Best Pop Album by a Duo or Group with Vocal and Best New Artist. Still in 2011 on October 28th, Il Volo recorded their first DVD concert: Il Volo – Takes Flight – Live from the Detroit Opera House, that was aired on the PBS TV all over the US and Canada on the next year. On November 4th, 2011 at the Piazza del Popolo in Rome, they performed with the conduction of the Maestro Ennio Morricone. On November 21st it was released the Album Il Volo – Christmas Favorites in digital format, which include the duet with Pia Toscano. An Album with beautiful songs which were performed on several Christmas events during the Christmas season.

During 2011 Il Volo made many concerts in US and Canada. This highly expected tour began on September 24th with a concert in Atlantic City. Gianluca, Piero e Ignazio, still minors, were accompanied by the fathers, who had to left their activities.
